Best Audio for your Community Videos
Today’s smart phones have incredible audio and video technology. That’s what makes these community video interviews so easy and accessible. If you want to enhance the experience even more, we recommend picking up a microphone that connects directly to your phone. This option will help reduce ambient noises, and gives the interview a professional look.
After testing a few of the many mobile microphone options, we fell in love with the iRig Mic; a handheld, microphone for iPhones and Androids. If you want something less conspicuous, the iRig Mic Lav offers a set of lapel mics.
The iRig Mic provides quality recording in both up-close and short distance conditions. And my favorite feature: it has a dual mini-jack connector so you can listen to your audio at the same time you are recording, and make sure you are getting good sound.
How to set-up and operate
The mini-jack connector plugs directly into your mobile phone’s audio jack. The 6.5 ft. cable makes it easy to record any sound source while keeping your mobile device at a convenient distance, such as on a tri-pod. Once the Mic is plugged in, your phone’s video app should automatically capture the sound. Make sure to test it first before your actual interview.
The iRig Mic retails for around $60. You can purchase the iRig Mic from Amazon:
